The majority of our jobs in the last decade came from referrals and Homeadvisor. Over the years, HomeAdvisor got too expensive for the low quality of leads they provided. At this particular time, referrals just weren’t coming in. We had to figure out how to attract customers on our own.
As the owner of a digital marketing company, I knew exactly what to do. We collected the pictures from our jobs over the years and gave our website a much-needed facelift. Then, we updated and optimized our Google Maps listing and connected to our website.
I used Google Ads to kickstart the whole thing and brought in 3 jobs that carried us over the remaining winter months. I only had to spend $250 on ads to bring in $35,000 worth of projects. Not bad! We asked those happy customers to leave us some reviews on our Google Maps listing. We are over 10 at this time.
That was almost 3 years ago. Over this time period, our website and Google Maps listing has kept us as busy as we can be. In 2020 alone we had over 75 inquiries about projects and did 3x the revenue of our best year prior. If we wanted to hire more people we could have quadrupled for sure, but we don’t want to be that big.
