Case Study: SEO for Chiles Enterprises LLC in Northern Virginia
Brief
Chiles Enterprises LLC is a full-service landscaping company in Northern Virginia with over 20 employees. Their owner, Wesley Chiles, started the company when he was a teenager and has turned it into a million-dollar company.
Wesley’s had a website built a few years back and had it redesigned recently, but it wasn’t bringing in many customers. Wesley was referred to Adapt Digital Solutions by the person who built his website to help him with his SEO.
His website was well designed, however, there was no attention paid to the on-page SEO. Wesley wanted to focus on one area, in particular, Lake Anna.
Our Approach to Marketing
We created a two-stage plan. Stage one involved fixing the SEO fundamentals on Wesley’s website and setting up Google Analytics so we could monitor the performance of his site. The steps we took included:
- We fixed some design issues that were sticking out and causing a bad user experience
- We completed the title, meta, and alt tags throughout the website.
- We optimized all of the images to increase loading speed
- We fixed the header structure to properly communicate to search engine crawlers what the site was about
- We fixed the keywords being used to focus on the services and locations Chiles Enterprises to improve search engine rankings
Stage two was carrying out two monthly reports to show Wesley how his site was performing and if there was a need for putting more effort into his SEO.
The Results We Produced
The results were almost immediate. Calls started coming in and Google Analytics was showing us that the on-page SEO package was working as expected.
The reports over the next two months showed that the initial increase in rankings tapered off at about three weeks and leveled off, bringing a steady flow of new customers into the business.
We were able to break into the Lake Anna market and begin acquiring valuable long-term lawn maintenance customers in the area.
What We Learned
We love working with companies that are already doing really good, and just need a step up to get to the next level. This project reinforced the belief in us that fixing on-page SEO fundamentals on a local business website can be enough to take over a market in certain areas.
This evidence further established our practice of applying proper SEO fundamentals to every website we build. We believe, as a web design agency, it’s our responsibility to use all of the knowledge we have to produce results for our clients.
